What It Does
The Audio to Text Converter transcribes speech to text directly in your browser, running locally via WebGPU and WebAssembly. Upload an audio file or record from your microphone, and get an editable transcript with timestamps you can copy or download as .txt, .srt, or .vtt. Because the model runs on your device, your audio is never uploaded anywhere.
Who It Helps
Anyone who needs words out of audio: journalists transcribing interviews, teams turning meeting recordings into notes, students transcribing lectures, podcasters drafting show notes, support teams reviewing call recordings — privately, since nothing leaves the browser.
How to Use
- Choose Upload to add an audio file, or Record to capture from your microphone
- Pick a model (Base for accuracy, Faster for speed) and language, or leave language on Auto-detect
- Wait a few seconds while the transcription model downloads the first time (it’s cached after that)
- Watch the transcript appear as the audio is processed
- Copy the text or download it as .txt, .srt, or .vtt
Why It Matters
Most online transcription tools upload your audio to a server and cap free minutes — a non-starter for confidential interviews, internal meetings, or customer calls. Running it locally removes both problems: unlimited transcription with the privacy of never uploading, and no per-minute cost.
